  1. Cryptorchism, or cryptochidism.
  2. Condition marked by undescended testicles;
  3. failure of the testes to complete their
  4. descent into the scrotum before birth. When
  5. only one testicle has descended, the
  6. condition is known as monorchism. About 10%
  7. of boys are born with one or both testes
  8. undescended. Usually the condition resolves
  9. within a few weeks of birth. Otherwise, an
  10. operation is needed to bring the testes down
  11. and ensure normal sexual development.
